Mandarin pop singer Jeannie Hsieh and Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon performed as guest artists at the 50th-anniversary opening celebration of the Hsinchu Municipal Baseball Stadium, bringing together two distinct generations of Asian pop performance.
Pink Aircraft Entrance and Dance Collaborations at Hsinchu Stadium
Hsieh arrived on stage via a custom pink aircraft before delivering performances of her tracks “Practicing Dance Skills” and “Top Notch.” During the latter half of “Practicing Dance Skills,” she was joined by world breakdancing champion BBoy NANA. She followed with her signature song “Sister” and concluded her set with her single “I’m Here.”
Reflecting on sharing the billing with Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon, Hsieh praised the South Korean group as a representative musical act. “Stage performance has no borders, and passion has no generation,” Hsieh said regarding a potential K-pop dance collaboration.
Discipline and Routine Behind Decades on Stage
Discussing her physical conditioning and sustained stage presence across a long career, Hsieh pointed to personal discipline paired with a strong attachment to her daily routine. “Body management has no shortcuts,” she said. “It’s just discipline plus a love for life.”
Away from large-scale public appearances, Hsieh described a quiet home life, noting that her longest routine journey when off work is simply walking from her bedroom to her mother’s room. Addressing the recent growth of domestic girl groups in Taiwan, she joked that she would happily join a group herself if the opportunity arose: “Singing, dancing, fighting for the stage—the sister can do it all! Welcome to form a group.” She added that new material remains in active development.
Hyoyeon Reflects on Two Decades of Girls’ Generation
Hyoyeon, who has made multiple performance trips to Taiwan, noted the consistent support of local fans during her visits. With Girls’ Generation approaching its 20th debut anniversary, the performer offered perspective on her career trajectory. Asked what advice she would give her younger self from twenty years ago, Hyoyeon said to simply do what feels right and maintain one’s original identity without worrying about unnecessary perfection.
Operating also under her moniker DJ HYO, she noted that an ongoing professional goal is to expand the audience for her electronic music projects. “I am always ready to perform again,” she told fans, pointing toward future touring plans and new releases.
