Estavana Polman spoke out against recurring media speculation regarding her relationship with Rafael van der Vaart, according to an interview published in 100% NL Magazine.
Social Media Inactivity Sparks Unfounded Rumors
Polman explained that gossip media outlets frequently suggest she and Van der Vaart have separated simply because they rarely post joint photographs on social media platforms. The athlete finds these persistent rumors irritating as she and her family attempt to maintain a normal, quiet private life. “I am not mega-active on Instagram, because I often forget to post something or take a picture,” Polman told the magazine. She added that she recently had to search deliberately to find a photograph of herself and Van der Vaart together.

“I often find social media a hassle,” Polman said, noting that everything she publishes online is scrutinized heavily by entertainment outlets. She clarified that it is not her intention to hide their lives, but rather that their daily routine—children attending school, eating, resting on the couch, playing an occasional game of padel and sleeping—simply lacks the drama that tabloid media seeks. “If I don’t share a photo of Rafael and me together for a while, it is immediately suggested that we are breaking up. I find that irritating. Sometimes we just want a little peace,” she stated.
Polman Leaves Talk Show After Cast Skepticism
The couple, who share a daughter born in 2017, recently announced that they are expecting a boy. Van der Vaart also has a son from his previous marriage to Sylvie Meis. Alongside family updates, Polman’s public profile shifted in recent months following her departure from the television talk show Vandaag Inside. Permanent cast members Johan Derksen and René van der Gijp voiced public skepticism regarding her scheduled appearance as a table guest, leading to the announcement in late September that she would no longer join the program.

Looking ahead to the winter holidays, Polman outlined traditional family plans in her interview with 100% NL Magazine. She noted that she will celebrate Christmas Eve with her partner’s family on the residential caravan park, First Christmas Day with her own parents, and Second Christmas Day at their new house. Additionally, Polman is scheduled to appear in the upcoming television season of Boerderij van Dorst.
Van Der Vaart Reflects on Early Career Discipline
Polman and Van der Vaart recently traveled to the Zeelandhallen in Goes to speak at the annual Contacta business fair. Event organizer Perry Kentin noted that inviting prominent figures helps business professionals draw inspiration from elite performance models. During the session, Van der Vaart reflected on his early career development at Ajax, discussing the discipline required as a teenager to bypass typical social distractions in pursuit of playing at the ArenA.
