Dana White Confirms Meeting With Trump Over Press Secretary Offer

President Donald Trump has offered Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White the job of White House press secretary, writing on Truth Social: Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!

The offer, made public on Saturday, comes as the role has been vacant since October 16. Conservative commentator Katie Zacharia was removed from the position after just five days in the role, following a single press briefing and media interviews. Trump said he had told Zacharia, Katie, is this for you? before her departure, according to a report by CNBC. Zacharia left the White House press secretary role after five days, a period that surpassed the previous record held by Anthony Scaramucci, who lasted only 11 days before being dismissed in 2017.

The president’s offer to White follows Friday’s announcement that Trump’s deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, would be promoted to chief of staff, succeeding Susie Wiles. Trump’s dramatic reshuffle occurred just three days after Democrats secured a sweeping victory in the midterm elections, acquiring majority control in the House and Senate, CBS News reported.

White to Meet with President

White did not immediately accept or decline the offer. He posted an image to his Instagram story showing himself behind the White House press briefing room lectern with the caption, On to the next chapter. It was unclear whether the post was meant to be taken seriously or as a joke, BBC News reported.

On Saturday, White confirmed he has a meeting scheduled with the President. I'm flying to Washington, D.C., right now, White said at a press conference in London. I'm going to meet with him, we have a meeting on Monday. So I'm sure I'll have more to talk about after that, he added, according to CBS News. White also joked, I got a lot of jobs already.

Trump's Proposed "Assistants" and Rationale

In his social media post, Trump asked White to bring a number of high-profile UFC fighters with him to the job even though some are not from our Country.

I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States, Trump wrote in the post, which was reported by multiple outlets including CBS News and The New York Post. Trump also wrote, Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!

White's Friendship with Trump

White, 57, is a close personal friend and long-time supporter of Trump. Their relationship dates back to 2001 when Trump hosted White’s debut event as UFC president at his Trump Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City. Nobody. Except Donald Trump. Donald was the first guy to recognize the potential we saw in the UFC and encouraged us to build our business, White said of Trump’s early support for the UFC, CNBC reported.

As CEO of UFC, White runs a global league valued at more than $15 billion. He has spoken at Republican National Conventions and attended Trump’s inauguration. In June, Trump hosted a UFC event, dubbed UFC Freedom 250, on the White House South Lawn to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary and his own 80th birthday. In 2018, Trump hosted White and UFC champion Colby Covington at the White House during his first presidential term and afterward frequently attended UFC events while serving as president.

When asked about his relationship with the president in a 2025 “60 Minutes” interview, White said they don’t discuss politics. When we get together for dinner, we don’t talk politics. We talk about goofy guy stuff that all guys talk about. You know what mean? he said, citing topics like Rocky movies and different fights that have happened.

White House Communications Director's Reaction

Steven Cheung, the White House communications director and a former UFC executive, responded to Trump’s post on X, formerly Twitter. Hell yeah! Do it, @DanaWhite! Cheung wrote, sharing the president’s message.
