BVB trio makes performance leap

Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga charge is being bolstered by the resurgence of three key signings, who have shown improved form this season. According to a report by FussballTransfers.com, players Jobe Bellingham, Fábio Silva, and Carney Chukwuemeka have made a performance leap in their second year with the club.

The Black and Yellow sit comfortably on 21 points after nine Bundesliga matches, with their only defeat coming in the Champions League. Their progression to the DFB-Pokal round of 16 further shows a campaign where the development of these three players has been a critical factor.

Second-Year Surge for Dortmund’s signings

After a challenging first season where parts of the fanbase and media questioned the signings, Bellingham, Silva, and Chukwuemeka have shown improved form in the current campaign. The trio, brought in following Giannis Konstantelias’ long-term injury, are now under coach Niko Kovac.

Praise for Bellingham's Attitude

Kovac has been effusive in his praise for the midfielder’s attitude, stating, “He shall continue like this. But I am convinced of that, because he really has a great attitude, loves this profession and will therefore become a very, very big player.”

Carney Chukwuemeka, an Austrian international, has also shown development, despite a recent injury picked up against Elversberg.

Kovac’s Patience Rewarded

Head coach Niko Kovac has consistently maintained that integrating young and foreign players requires time. He explained his philosophy to FussballTransfers.com, emphasizing the differences in training standards and structure between Germany and other leagues. “I have always said that when young or foreign players come, you have to give them time to adapt culturally and structurally. We train differently in Germany, have completely different standards and different priorities than in other leagues.”

Kovac views the players’ current form as the direct result of a long-term, consistent approach. The work, he says, is now paying off. “You see that the work we are doing with the players here is bearing fruit. It doesn’t happen immediately. But we remain sustainable and consistent in our actions. You can plan for performance. And performance generates success. That’s why I’m happy that these boys have taken such a development path, but they are by no means at the end of it. There is still a lot to come.”

What’s Next for Dortmund

With the international break concluded, Borussia Dortmund will return to Bundesliga action.
