Denmark coach Brian Riemer named a squad on Wednesday for November’s Nations League fixtures against Portugal and Norway, welcoming back several key players while leaving out a trio of injured or out-of-form stars ahead of a potentially decisive meeting with Norway at Parken.
Riemer brings back Jensen, Bah and long-absent Lindstrøm
Brentford midfielder Mathias Jensen and defender Alexander Bah both return to the national team setup, VG reported, while Toulouse defender Rasmus Nicolaisen is in line for a possible debut. Jesper Lindstrøm, who has not appeared in a Denmark match for more than a year and a half, is also among Riemer’s selections.
Albert Grønbæk, the former Bodø/Glimt midfielder now at Genoa, is included in the squad. Three players from the previous call-up — Adam Daghim, Thomas Jørgensen and Lucas Høgsberg — have been moved down to the under-21 team, which faces the Netherlands in European Championship playoff matches, according to VG.

Christensen, Dorgu and Høgh miss out
Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen remains unavailable after picking up an injury just before the previous international window and has not played since, VG reported. Manchester United star Patrick Dorgu is also still sidelined; he suffered a muscle strain in Denmark’s Nations League home match against Wales on Sept. 27 and only recently returned to United’s training ground.
Former Bodø/Glimt striker Kasper Høgh was left out after struggling for form at Celtic, VG reported, making him the most notable omission among the attacking options.
Denmark’s full squad for the November internationals
The squad announced for the Nov. 14 match against Portugal and the Nov. 17 match against Norway at Parken:
- Goalkeepers: Andreas Jungdal, Mads Hermansen, Filip Jørgensen
- Defenders: Joachim Andersen, Alexander Bah, Rasmus Nicolaisen, Oliver Provstgaard, Victor Nelsson, Rasmus Nissen Kristensen, Joakim Mæhle, Victor Bak
- Midfielders: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Victor Froholdt, Mads Bidstrup, Morten Hjulmand, Mikkel Damsgaard, Mathias Jensen, Albert Grønbæk
- Wingers and forwards: Mohamed Daramy, Jesper Lindstrøm, Andreas Skov Olsen, Rasmus Højlund, Gustav Isaksen, William Osula
What the Norway match could decide
With Norway visiting Parken on Nov. 17, VG described the fixture as one that could become a direct decider in the Nations League group, raising the stakes for a Denmark side that will be without two of its most experienced Premier League players in Dorgu and Christensen. Riemer’s squad includes returning players such as Jensen and the long-absent Lindstrøm for the upcoming matches.
The next confirmed checkpoint is Denmark’s Nov. 14 home match against Portugal, followed by the Nov. 17 meeting with Norway at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.
