Both champions at the autumn tournament in Le Creusot won their finals without dropping a game

Both champions at the autumn tournament in Le Creusot won their finals without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0 — a double scoreline rare enough for a tournament final, Creusot Infos reported. Camille Martins Caillon of Le Creusot took the women’s title and Clément Vozinski of Gueugnon the men’s title on Sunday at the close of the event.

The tournament, which began on October 10, drew 64 entrants — 10 women and 54 men — competing in two draws, one for men and one for women. Sunday’s schedule held the men’s semifinals and both finals.

Gueugnon players filled the men’s final

In the semifinals, Bertrand Gres of Gueugnon, ranked 15, beat Gabin Gonthier of Moulins Tennis, also ranked 15, 6-2, 6-3 to reach the final. Vozinski, ranked 15 for Gueugnon, beat Mathieu Meunier of Talant, ranked 5/6, in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. That set up an all-Gueugnon men’s final, which Vozinski won 6-0, 6-0 over Gres.

In the women’s final, Martins Caillon of Le Creusot, ranked 15/3, defeated Louane Picot of Montceau-Les-Mines T.C., ranked 15/1, 6-0, 6-0.

Officials and volunteers thanked at the reception

At the closing reception, Henri PENGUÉ congratulated all participants and their entourages and thanked the referees: Éric Mucci, the tournament’s chief referee, and his assistants Marcel Dubois, Daniel Jobard and Emmanuel Gallezot, along with the volunteers who welcomed players and contributed to the event’s success, according to Creusot Infos. The reception was held in the presence of Daniel Martinon, the deputy for sports. Photographs of the event were taken by Alain Bollery.

europeays.com, carrying the same report, confirmed the identical semifinal and final scores and the same list of officials thanked at the reception; the two outlets’ accounts do not differ on any result or figure. Neither report states when Le Creusot’s next tournament will be held.
