Wang Yueya Wins Blind Judo Gold at the Nagoya Asian Para Games

At the fifth Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, Chinese judoka Wang Yueya claimed the gold medal in the women’s J2 -70kg division on October 21, 2026, defeating her Japanese opponent in the final match.

Victory in Nagoya Highlights a Decisive Final Match

The gold-medal bout took place on the afternoon of October 21 at the fifth Asian Para Games, running from October 18 to 24 in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan. Facing a host-nation competitor in the women’s J2-70kg category, Wang secured the victory through an efficient tactical performance that sealed the championship. The triumph in Nagoya marks another major international milestone for the Bayannur athlete following a demanding global calendar.

Global Competition Sets the Stage for Continental Gold

Wang arrived in Japan shortly after competing at the 2026 World Blind Judo Championships, where she faced a field of 290 athletes representing 44 countries and regions. In that high-intensity global tournament, she earned a bronze medal in the women’s 70kg J2 event alongside a team gold medal for China.

A Decade of Domestic and International Podiums

Wang’s career features a consistent record dating back to 2015, when she won her first national title at the 9th National Games of China in the 63kg blind judo division, followed by four years of winning the national title in that event. At the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021, she captured a bronze medal in the women’s 63kg category. Her international momentum continued through 2023 with a silver medal at the Egypt World Blind Judo Grand Prix, followed by gold medals at the World Blind Games, the Azerbaijan World Blind Judo Grand Prix, and the national blind judo championship.

During the 2024 season, Wang secured gold medals at World Grand Prix stops in Germany, Turkey, and Georgia. She followed those victories with a silver medal at the Paris Paralympics later that year. In 2025, she added another national blind judo championship title to her resume, followed by a victory at the national blind judo championship and selection trials for the Nagoya Asian Para Games in 2026.

Tournament Schedule and Future Competition Milestones

With the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games concluding on October 24, Wang’s story serves as an inspiration for others to pursue their dreams and face challenges.
