Carabinieri in Italy’s Val Pusteria arrested a drug deal in progress near the Villabassa railway station on the evening of October 23, seizing approximately 13 grams of hashish during an operation conducted by officers from the San Candido station alongside the Operational and Radiomobile Unit.
The intervention unfolded as law enforcement monitored suspicious movements around the transit hub, spotting an out-of-province vehicle carrying a young man and a woman.

The operation escalated immediately when the officers moved in to block the vehicle and detain all three individuals involved.
Following preliminary checks and formal processing completed on the morning of October 24, the two vehicle occupants—both arriving from outside the province—were referred in a state of freedom to the competent judicial authority. They face joint charges of drug possession with intent to distribute.

Administrative Penalties Applied for Personal Use
While the two motorists face criminal prosecution through the judicial system, the third individual—identified as the purchaser who entered the car to complete the transaction—faced a different legal outcome. Law enforcement officials sanctioned the buyer via administrative channels.
The purchaser was formally reported to the relevant authorities under Article 75 of Presidential Decree 309/1990, the Italian consolidated text governing narcotics regulations concerning personal drug use. Authorities transported the recovered hashish to a secure facility where it will undergo standard qualitative and quantitative laboratory analysis.
Ongoing Val Pusteria Security Patrols
Investigators confirmed that the Villabassa intervention formed part of a broader, continuous series of territorial checks deployed by the Carabinieri across the Val Pusteria region. These operations aim specifically to curb local drug distribution networks and maintain public safety around transport hubs and high-traffic municipal zones.
