Jean-Fabrice Dossou will make his competitive debut for the Limoges CSP during the 115th Clasico against Elan Béarnais this Sunday at 19:00 local time at a sold-out Palais des Sports in Pau.
From Youth Promise to Elite Roster
At 26 years old, the Benin-born center arrives at France’s top tier after taking the long route through the lower divisions. Dossou first stepped onto Betclic ELITE floors in brief appearances during September 2020 and February 2021 while playing as an Espoir with Orléans. He later turned professional in the second division with Blois before raising his game over the past two seasons with Nantes, where he averaged 8.7 points and 7.8 rebounds in Betclic Elite 2.

Overcoming Pre-Season Setbacks
The 2.11-meter big man missed a month of action due to a fractured cheekbone sustained at the very end of the pre-season. Just as he recovered, he suffered another facial knock in training that sidelined him for several more weeks. Cleared to return for Sunday’s showdown, Dossou steps into a frontcourt rotation alongside Gavin Ware under head coach Arnaud Tessier.
Tactical Adjustments in the Paint
Limoges enters the match averaging 33 rebounds per game through the first four rounds—trailing Elan Béarnais by 6.5 boards per contest. Teammate Andrew Albicy noted in a video interview that Dossou brings much-needed toughness and is a good rebounder. The arrival of the new center is also expected to allow Louis Labeyrie to shift primarily to the power forward position.

Historic Rivals Meet for 115th Time
Sunday’s fixture marks the 115th meeting between two of French basketball’s historic rivals, who share 20 national titles between them. Both clubs opened the campaign with identical 1-3 records. The match will be broadcast live in France on La Chaîne L’Équipe and DAZN.
Limoges Players Seek to Support Local Community
Players and staff approach the fixture carrying local sentiments following recent events in Limoges, noting a desire to bring a positive spark to the community. Dans cette zone d’ombre, si on peut apporter un peu d’éclaircie pour Limoges, on va le faire
stated head coach Arnaud Tessier. Jean-Fabrice Dossou added: On se sent investis, forcément, parce que nous sommes aujourd’hui habitants de la ville de Limoges, essayons de retrouver quand même cette paix que nous avons à Limoges et en France.
