Vietnam launched its nationwide physical training campaign on October 10, bringing together provincial officials and more than 4,000 participants in Ca Mau province for a mass solidarity walk. Presided over by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism across Hanoi and 33 linked provinces, the initiative seeks to expand participation in the “National Physical Exercise Movement Following the Example of Great President Ho Chi Minh.”
Provincial Leadership and Mass Turnout in Ca Mau
The launch event at the Ca Mau provincial venue drew key local officials, including Nguyen Minh Luan, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Le Thanh Trieu, permanent vice chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee for Ca Mau province; and Truong Dang Khoa, party secretary of Tan Thanh district. Alongside them, more than 4,000 civil servants, trade union members, youth, students, workers, and seniors gathered for the opening ceremony.
Directly following the formalities, the crowd took part in a solidarity walk designed to spark broader public engagement in regular physical activity. Local organizers structured the rollout to encourage residents of all ages to select sports matching their personal health conditions and preferences.

Expanding School and Community Sports Programs
In recent years, Ca Mau has recorded steady growth in everyday sports participation, spanning disciplines such as walking, jogging, aerobics, folk dance, badminton, volleyball, and table tennis. These activities function not only as fitness tools but also as social anchors that build community ties across neighborhoods and institutions.
Lam Ai Vy, a student at the Binh Duong University Ca Mau campus, noted that accessible school facilities play a central role in maintaining exercise habits among young people. Volleyball, badminton, and table tennis remain popular choices for students seeking physical conditioning and stress relief between classes.
Older residents have also embraced the movement. Cao Thi Phuong Mai, a resident of Tan Thanh ward and a member of the “Beauty in Bloom” folk dance and health group, emphasized that regular, low-impact exercise helps maintain mobility and general well-being without requiring high-intensity workouts.
Long-Term Goals for Public Health and Sustainable Development
The 2026 national training campaign aims to convert voluntary exercise into a daily habit across all demographic groups. By encouraging residents to adopt at least one consistent sport, local authorities intend to strengthen physical and mental health standards throughout Ca Mau.
