Venezuela delegation for 2026 Youth olympics includes 34 athletes

The 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal will feature a 67-member Venezuelan delegation, including 34 high-performance athletes competing across 15 sports, according to planning updates released by sports authorities.

Technical planning meetings set delegation size and logistics

Representatives from the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports and the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV) met in institutional working sessions to establish logistics, transport, technical equipment, and medical training schedules for the national team. The competition is scheduled to run from October 31 to November 13, 2026, marking the first time an Olympic event will take place on the African continent.

Athletes compete across fifteen confirmed disciplines

The selected competitors will participate in 15 specific disciplines categorized across combat, water, court, and urban sports. Combat and strength events include boxing, fencing, judo, beach wrestling, and wushu. Aquatic and wind sports cover swimming, sailing, and triathlon combined events. Track and table sports feature athletics, badminton, road cycling, and table tennis. Urban team disciplines round out the lineup with 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball, and the women’s national futsal team.

Jefatura de Misión secures pre-registration in host cities

The Venezuelan delegation’s Jefatura de Misión, led by COV general secretary Katiuska Santaella, completed the pre-registration process for athletes and support staff through the world event’s central system following virtual planning meetings with the local organizing committee in Africa. The Youth Olympic events will take place across three host cities: Dakar, Diamniadio, and the coastal town of Saly.

Daily monitoring at national training centers

Sports ministry officials announced that a multidisciplinary team will maintain daily oversight of the final training phases for each athlete across national high-performance centers. This monitoring aims to ensure competitors arrive in Senegal in peak physical and competitive condition ahead of the October opening.
