Uyana Jacu Archery Tournaments Gather Regional Athletes in Ushuaia

Twenty-seven archers from five clubs across Tierra del Fuego and Santa Cruz gathered at the “Cocol” Gómez outdoor field in Ushuaia for the Torneos Uyana Jacu, Notitdf reported. Organized by the Uyana Jacu – Club El Palomar on October 24 and 25, the two-day outdoor archery meet combined competitive rounds with youth development programs and community outreach.

The weekend event drew competitors representing Arqueros del Viento from Río Gallegos, the Agrupación Fueguina de Tiro con Arco from Río Grande, along with local Ushuaia organizations Arqueros del Martial, Arquería Austral, and the host club. Participants spanned divisions including Recurvo, Raso, Longbow, Tradicional, and Compuesto, covering age brackets from Sub-15 youth categories to shooters over 50 years old.

Opening Classification and Community Bautismo at the Municipal Sports Center

Competition began Saturday with qualifying rounds at the Centro Polideportivo Municipal venue. As the first day’s scoring wrapped up, organizers opened the field to local residents for a “Flecha de Bautismo” initiative, inviting community members to try their hand at shooting a bow for the very first time.

Sunday’s schedule featured the conclusion of the qualification rounds alongside head-to-head elimination matches for specific classes. Eliminatories decided the podium finishes in Jóvenes Promesas Recurvo Sub-15 at 20 meters, Recurvo Escuela at 20 meters, and Raso Escuela at 30 meters. In all other divisions, final standings were determined strictly by qualification scores.
