ASD Tycke Sport has secured the national “Vola con Noi 2026” grant, becoming the exclusive recipient in the province of Catanzaro and one of only three organizations across Calabria selected by Sport e Salute S.p.A. and the Italian Badminton Federation (FIBa), il Lametino.it reported.
National Grant Expands Racquet Sports Across Catanzaro
The funding anchors a new initiative bringing badminton and pickleball to the seaside district of Catanzaro Lido. Operating under its updated designation as Tycke Sport & Social Aps APD, the organization is launching a training program featuring 48 hours of curricular student activities alongside 20 hours of free afternoon and extracurricular sessions. ildispaccio.it noted that these programs target youth and families from lower-income brackets, removing financial barriers to sports traditionally viewed as exclusive.
The school initiative continues a partnership with the IC Casalinuovo of Catanzaro, utilizing both the Via Forni primary school building and the Via Stretto Antico secondary school building. This collaboration follows joint programming completed during the previous academic year, according to il Lametino.it.
Training Schedules Across Catanzaro and Lamezia Terme
Tycke Sport has published its facility schedules for the upcoming athletic slate across two Calabrian municipalities. In Catanzaro Lido, sessions take place at the Casalinuovo gymnasium located on Via Stretto Antico, operating on Wednesdays and Fridays from 17:00 to 18:30 for Junior and Under divisions under the “Vola con Noi 2026” banner. tyckesport.it confirmed that activities at this waterfront venue officially commenced on October 1.
In Lamezia Terme, operations utilize two distinct school facilities:
- Palestra “Pitagora” (Wednesday): Amateur, Elite Competitive, and Individual sessions run from 15:30 to 16:30; Under, Junior, and promotional training (ages 06–19) run from 16:30 to 17:30; Squad and Senior sessions run from 17:30 to 18:30.
- Palestra “Don Bosco”: Under, Junior, and promotional training (ages 06–19) run Monday from 17:30 to 18:30; Squad and Senior sessions run Thursday from 18:30 to 20:00.
Community Integration and Family Tournaments
Beyond the ministerial and federal training hours, the association keeps the Catanzaro Lido facility open at no cost during weekday afternoons to sustain neighborhood sports promotion. ildispaccio.it reported that the schedule also features the “Baddy Cup” and “Baddy Cup Family” tournaments, community events designed to pair parents and children together on the court.
Tycke Sport officials acknowledged support from FIBa, Sport e Salute S.p.A., the leadership and faculty of IC Casalinuovo, and the municipal administration of Catanzaro for granting access to the Via Stretto Antico facility.
Open Questions Regarding Regional Expansion
While the “Vola con Noi 2026” grant secures programming in Catanzaro and Lamezia Terme, federation officials have not announced whether the initiative will expand to other Calabrian provinces, nor have local organizers detailed potential tournament dates beyond the initial club fixtures.
