Three young badminton players from Jiangxi province helped the Chinese national team defend its mixed team title at the 2026 BWF World Junior Championships in Cairo, Egypt, according to local sports officials.
Yin Yiqing, Lai Yuhao, and Yang Dan, representing the Jiangxi Provincial Ball Games Management Center, joined the national delegation for the global youth tournament held from October 5 to October 17. In the mixed team competition, which concluded during the opening phase of the event, the three Jiangxi athletes contributed to China’s run through the tournament bracket and a successful title defence against top international competition.
Cairo Mixed Team Tournament Format And Progression
The mixed team championship maintained the relay-scoring format used in previous editions, operating on a best-of-three-games system. Each game consisted of five individual matches played in a strict sequence: women’s singles, men’s singles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and men’s doubles. Each individual match added 11 points to the cumulative score, with the first side to reach 55 points winning that game.
China advanced steadily through the early rounds before defeating Thailand 2-0 in the semifinals. That victory set up a final against top-seeded Malaysia.
In the title match, China secured the first game 55-46 by establishing an early advantage through its tactical structure. Malaysia responded in the second game, utilizing its strength in doubles to edge out a 55-53 win and level the overall score at one game apiece. In the deciding third game, China adjusted its lineup and closed out a 55-45 victory, sealing a 2-1 match win to retain the mixed team trophy.
Jiangxi Athletes Step Up In Final Stages
The three athletes from Jiangxi fulfilled specific roles within the team throughout the week. Yin Yiqing featured as a core singles player for the national squad, appearing across multiple rounds. Provincial sports authorities noted that her technical execution and composure under pressure yielded crucial points during tight fixtures.

Lai Yuhao and Yang Dan supported the team’s tactical framework through rigorous preparation and reliable contributions in squad rotations, sharing the workload during the rigorous team campaign.
Individual Events And Schedule Ahead
With the mixed team tournament completed, attention shifts to the individual events, which began on October 12 and run through October 17. Yin Yiqing, Lai Yuhao, and Yang Dan remain entered in the individual draws as they prepare to face remaining contenders from across the globe.
