Archers in Namur have found a permanent home at the IND, opening a new chapter for the local sport following a September 4 launch, L’Avenir reported.
New IND Venue Offers Space and Ventilation
The newly established archery club secured space within the IND, taking over a dedicated performance hall that provides necessary room and airflow for members, according to club organizers. Setting up the facility required acquiring targets, stands, safety nets, gloves, arm guards, bows, quivers, and arrows. Organizers sourced a portion of this equipment at a discount from another club conducting an inventory check.
Schedules and Training Categories
Training sessions take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays along Rue Julie Billiart. Club leaders Serge Carpentier and Lætitia Cnockaert oversee beginner instruction, guiding newcomers through basic stances, shooting procedures, practice rounds, and form corrections.
Membership Growth Prompts Scheduling Shifts
Membership has already reached twenty-five participants, with organizers projecting numbers to climb toward thirty in the near term. This swift expansion forced leadership to adjust their operational setup, including the cancellation of Monday beginner sessions due to high attendance levels on that day.

Pricing and Starter Budgets
The club offers the first four sessions free of charge before requiring a membership fee from returning participants. Equipment is provided on loan during the introductory phase. For newcomers preparing to purchase their own gear, the initial investment for a first bow runs between 100 and 150 euros, which Carpentier described as a reasonable price point to support the club’s core mission of learning, competition, and enjoyment.
