Archery Club Launched to Support Veterans: Southern Soldiers’ Heart

The Southern Soldiers’ Heart Archery Club launched on Oct. 10 at the Xuan Hoa Ward Political Center in Ho Chi Minh City, establishing a new recreational venue aimed at connecting military veterans with the wider public through sport.

Attendees at the event included Major General Tran Trieu Duong, former director of the Ho Chi Minh City Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department; Colonel and Lawyer Nguyen Thanh Hung, former head of the Economic Security Department of the Tien Giang Province Police; and Colonel Tran Van Thong, former political counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia.

Fujiwa Vietnam Donates Funds to Repair Veterans Houses

During the launch ceremony, Fujiwa Vietnam Co., Ltd., working alongside the “Companionship and Solidarity” program, donated 100 million VND to fund the repair of two charitable houses for disadvantaged war veterans living in Cu Chi. Organizers stated that the club intends to use sport as a vehicle for channeling social resources toward soldiers who still encounter economic hardships.

The establishment of the archery facilities aligns with Politburo Conclusion 70-KL/TW issued on Jan. 31, 2024, which promotes physical education and grassroots sports development in the modern era. The directive emphasizes expanding opportunities for public athletic training and mobilizing external societal resources.

Club Seeks to Bridge Generations Through Athletic Activities

Club board chairman and veteran Nguyen Cong Trung said the organization seeks to bridge generations by combining athletic activities with traditional education and cultural exchanges. The program aims to give younger citizens an opportunity to meet veterans, listen to their service histories, and cultivate community responsibility.

The club also secured a formal cooperation agreement with Doctor of Philosophy and Professor Esenaliev Taalai Duyshenovich, author of the international Nomadic and Sedentary Peoples World Games project, who will serve as the club’s principal advisor.
