Seoul SK secured a 96-87 victory against Busan KCC in the 2026-2027 season Korean Basketball League first-round match on Oct. 27 at Jamsil Student Gymnasium, extending their winning streak to four games and solidifying sole possession of second place in the standings.
Seoul SK Overcomes Halftime Deficit Behind Third-Quarter Surge
Busan KCC opened the match with a strong offensive display, taking a 50-48 lead into halftime. However, Seoul SK completely altered the game’s momentum in the third quarter by mounting a 27-point offensive onslaught while holding the defending champions to just 11 points. That defensive clampdown pushed SK ahead 75-61 entering the final period, an advantage they maintained through the final buzzer to claim the 96-87 win.
Isaiah Hicks and Ahn Young-jun Lead Balanced SK Attack
Isaiah Hicks paced Seoul SK with a dominant performance, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Ahn Young-jun matched Hicks with 18 points of his own, while teammate Oh Jae-hyun chipped in 15 points to anchor the perimeter attack. Head coach Jeon Hee-chul noted before tipoff that exploiting KCC’s vulnerability in transition defense would be a primary focus, a strategy that paid off as SK capitalized on fast-break opportunities to score 24 points off 12 fast breaks.
Defending Champion KCC Drops Sixth Game
Despite a game-high 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists from Jang Jae-seok, Busan KCC suffered its sixth straight loss, dropping to 2-7 on the season and falling to sole possession of last place. Sean Long added 21 points and 9 rebounds, Heo Ung contributed 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Heo Hoon posted 11 points and 12 assists. Despite the balanced production from their veteran core, the defending champions could not withstand SK’s third-quarter surge.
Standings Implications After Four Consecutive Wins
With the victory, Seoul SK improved to 4-1 on the young season, remaining 2.5 games behind league leader Seoul Samsung, which holds an 8-0 record. After opening their campaign with a loss to Goyang Sono, SK has rebounded with four straight wins. Meanwhile, KCC continues to slide deeper into the standings as their six-game losing skid tests the defending champions early in the 2026-2027 KBL calendar.
