Seahawks Hand Chiefs First Loss of the Season with 20-3 Victory

The Seattle Seahawks handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season with a 20-3 victory Sunday night, ending a run that left the Minnesota Vikings as the NFL’s last remaining undefeated team.

Seahawks Defense Stifles Running Back Kenneth Walker III in Return

Playing in front of home supporters, the Seahawks (4-3) dismantled a Kansas City offense that had opened the year with five consecutive wins. Central to Seattle’s defensive effort was the containment of running back Kenneth Walker III. Playing his first game back in Seattle after leaving for Kansas City in the offseason, Walker found little room to maneuver against his former team. After averaging 133 rushing yards across his first five games, the running back was held to just 36 yards on the ground by the Seahawks defense.

Seattle’s offensive attack did the heavy lifting. Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba hauled in nine passes for 150 yards and a touchdown. In the backfield, Emanuel Wilson totaled 100 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, while quarterback Sam Darnold threw for 257 yards and one score, snapping a two-game skid for Seattle.

Travis Kelce Reaches Career Milestone in Defeat

Despite the offensive struggles for the Chiefs (5-1), tight end Travis Kelce etched his name further into the league record books. By catching his third pass of the evening, Kelce surpassed Marvin Harrison to claim fifth place on the NFL’s all-time receptions list, bringing his career total to 1,104 receptions.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes managed 165 yards through the air and threw one interception, guiding an offense that generated just 213 total yards in what marked the unit’s lowest output of the season.

Standings Shift Across the League

The defeat drops Kansas City into the loss column for the first time, while the San Francisco 49ers also fell on Sunday, leaving the Minnesota Vikings (6-0) as the sole undefeated team standing in the NFL standings.

The Chiefs look to rebound next Sunday when they travel to Denver to face the Denver Broncos. The Seahawks return to action on Monday, November 2, when Seattle hosts the Chicago Bears.
