Rovigo secured promotion to the Serie A Gold for 2027 on Saturday, October 10, defeating Milano 15–5 in Game 3 of the Play Off A promotion series, according to reports from povigliobaseball.it.
Rovigo Sweeps the Final Series at Milano
The Venetian side completed a 3–0 sweep in the final series after claiming victories in both Games 1 and 2 the previous weekend. The decisive third game ended decisively at 15–5, following tighter contests in the opening two matches that finished 4–3 and 2–1 in Rovigo’s favor. The victory earns Rovigo the second promotion spot from Serie A Silver, joining Platform-Tmc Poviglio, which advanced after defeating Verona 3–2 in their respective playoff series.
Milano Fades After a Long Campaign
Milano entered the postseason as a co-leader following a grueling 44-game regular season, but manager Roberto Bianchi’s squad struggled with physical and psychological exhaustion down the stretch. Key contributors, including pitcher Doba, battled late-season injuries that limited their effectiveness in the high-stakes final. While Doba returned for the final weeks of the regular season, the rotation lacked its usual depth, opening the door for a surging Rovigo side.
Rovigo Rides Late-Season Momentum
Rovigo manager Ricardo Osorio, club president Alessandro Boniolo, and sports director Lucio Taschin guided a roster that capitalized on late-season momentum. The club overtook Ronchi dei Legionari for second place in the standings during the final weeks of the regular season, securing the playoff berth that ultimately led to promotion. Historical matchups between the two clubs suggested a closer battle, but Rovigo’s sustained form proved decisive over the three games.
Promotion Picture and Next Steps
Four teams—Milano, Verona, Rovigo, and Poviglio—competed for promotion to Italy’s top-tier baseball division, with Rovigo and Poviglio ultimately securing the two available spots. Both Milano and Verona will return to Serie A Silver competition next season, while Rovigo and Poviglio prepare for their campaigns in the Serie A Gold for 2027.
