Romano Amadei Prepares to Sell Reggiana Majority Stake

Reggiana majority shareholder Romano Amadei is preparing to relinquish his controlling stake in the club, ending an era that featured two promotions from Serie C to Serie B. The prospective ownership transition moves forward with three distinct investor groups under consideration by the club’s board of directors.

The transition arrives after recent health issues prompted Amadei to consider passing the club to new leadership. The leader of Immergas departs after seven seasons overseeing the team, leaving behind a club foundation that includes four campaigns in the second division and a 2019 administrative rescue from Serie D to Serie C.

Financial Deadlines and Ownership Conditions

Prospective buyers face strict financial requirements to complete the acquisition. Interested parties must deposit one million euros by October 31 and submit a binding purchase commitment. A second payment of one million euros is scheduled for December 15 to finalize ownership transfer. Deposits are non-refundable should a group withdraw from the transaction.

The new ownership group must also provide verified bank credentials, assume existing club guarantees, and clear pending items regarding the 25/26 financial budget. Incoming buyers will need to cover approximately 4.5 million euros in uncovered operational costs for the current sporting season alongside new liquidity for the January transfer window.

Three Prospective Ownership Groups Emerge

Three entities have formally requested financial documentation via certified email to examine the club’s financial health. The first group is anchored by the group Radrizzani alongside the investment fund Nex Play Capital, featuring partner Gonzalo Vila and investors including Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois. Their proposal focuses on developing the Villa Granata training center while retaining existing management professionals.

A second group consists of Italian entrepreneurs with ties to Brescia, operating through connections established by general manager Francesco Marroccu and supported by a specialized credit institution. Their approach emphasizes operational consolidation while keeping Carmelo Salerno in place to steer financial sustainability.

A third, Italian-American group is led by Gianpiero Balestrieri, an executive director at the District of Columbia Retirement Board with a background in corporate finance and M&A. This proposal pairs club acquisition with industrial investments in Emilian agri-food products and promises a complete break from previous management structures.

Supporters Establish Financial Backing Srl

A dozen fan-sponsors established a non-profit limited liability company last week to provide emergency financial backing for Reggiana ahead of upcoming federation deadlines. The newly formed entity raised more than one million euros to ensure corporate continuity, with funds available to support the incoming majority shareholder through sponsorships, non-repayable grants, or future equity conversions.

Board Evaluation and Shareholder Approval Process

The Reggiana board of directors—comprising Salerno, Fico, and Flisi, alongside advisors Corrado Baldini and Eugenio Imbergamo—will review the submitted proposals before presenting an upcoming capital increase to the general assembly of shareholders. The Amadei family holds 74.79 percent of the club shares, with Salerno holding 20 percent and Fico holding 5.21 percent. Alfredo Amadei holds the delegation to represent the majority shareholder on the board, while current minority stakeholders retain veto power and pre-emption rights under matching offers.

Reggiana, Romano Amadei.
