Twin brothers Tapeshwar Poonia and Tejeshwar Poonia secured a one-sided 15-10, 15-4 victory over Jagrut Budhwar and Hrithik Dhaka of Haryana in the Under-17 boys’ doubles event at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, according to regional sports reporting.
Poonia Brothers Sail Into Final Qualifying Round
The Poonia twins delivered a commanding performance on home turf during the ongoing Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton tournament. Their straight-game victory propelled them directly into the final qualifying round of the Under-17 boys’ doubles draw.

Singles and Doubles Results Across Rajasthan Shuttlers
Alongside the Poonia brothers, several other Rajasthan players won tough matches on Sunday. In the fourth qualifying round of the Under-15 girls’ singles, Khushi Sharma registered a come-from-behind victory against Tamil Nadu’s Avanthika, winning 11-15, 15-11, 15-8 to inch closer to the main draw. In the Under-15 girls’ doubles, the Rajasthan pairing of Kavya Chaudhary and Miraya Fageria comfortably defeated Gujarat’s Diti Tejas and Vedenshi Shukla 15-9, 15-9. Another local pairing, Vardhit and Varshit, brushed aside the combined Delhi-Tamil Nadu duo of Arpit Baliyan and Nirvan 15-11, 15-4 in the Under-17 boys’ category.
However, local competitors also faced elimination in tightly contested encounters. In the Under-15 girls’ singles fourth round, Miraya of Rajasthan went down fighting against Keyakosa Raju of Andhra Pradesh with scores of 15-11, 9-15, 10-15. Lakshyaraj Singh Nathawat fell to Maharashtra’s Pratham Raut 15-17, 15-9, 3-15 in the Under-15 boys’ singles. In the Under-17 singles fourth round, Tamil Nadu’s Laxman RK defeated Rajasthan’s Manas Parwal 15-13, 15-9. In Under-15 girls’ doubles second-round action, Andhra Pradesh pair Diya and Manavishta overcame RV Saini and Swaraj Taksali of Rajasthan 15-7, 15-4. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra and Gujarat combination of Pratham and Vivaan ousted Rajasthan’s Pranav Mulchandani and Lakshyaraj Singh 15-2, 19-17.
Maharashtra Shuttler Sairaj Nayse Achieves Double Success
Away from the local Rajasthan contingent, Maharashtra’s Sairaj Nayse put together a strong campaign on Sunday by advancing in both singles and doubles competition. Sairaj outclassed Andhra Pradesh’s Surya Ramat Ritwik 15-7, 15-9 in their fourth-round Under-17 boys’ singles encounter. He then teamed up with Luwangamba in the Under-17 boys’ doubles to defeat Sudesh and Tishvin 15-9, 15-10, moving closer to main draw qualification.
Qualifying Matches Determine Main Draw Entrants
Qualifying matches conclude on Monday with approximately 120 matches scheduled to be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Shuttlers who secure victories in Monday’s fixtures will advance to the main draw, which is scheduled to begin on October 6.
