Novak Djokovic Slips to No. 12 in ATP Rankings

Novak Djokovic slipped four spots to No. 12 in the ATP rankings on Monday, October 19, 2026, falling out of the world top ten following the latest rankings update.

Points lost from the Shanghai Masters

The 24-time Grand Slam champion dropped 390 points from his 2025 run at the Shanghai Masters, where he reached the semifinals before losing to Valentin Vacherot. That defense failure cost him his position in the top tier, leaving him with 2840 points in the ATP live race standings. He holds just a 210-point cushion over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who surged 14 places after winning the title in Shanghai, and Taylor Fritz, who slipped two spots to No. 12 in the live race.

Chasing qualification for Turin

Beyond the standard rankings drop, the 39-year-old Serbian star has slid out of the top eight qualification spots for the ATP Finals in Turin. Rafael Jódar’s recent rise pushed Djokovic down to 11th in the live race standings with 2840 points, trailing Flavio Cobolli (3540), Daniil Medvedev (3420), Frances Tiafoe (3380), Arthur Fils (3325), and Jódar (3159), while sitting ahead of Tommy Paul (2585) and Taylor Fritz (2530).

The Basel schedule addition

To salvage his ATP Finals qualification campaign, Djokovic confirmed plans to compete at the Swiss Indoors Basel, an ATP 500 event scheduled from October 26 to November 1, 2026. Despite owning a record seven titles at the season-ending championship, the veteran enters the closing weeks of the autumn indoor swing fighting to secure his place at the Pala Alpitour in Turin for the tournament running from November 15 to 22, 2026.
