Mikael Laurent and Emy Martins Win French Deaf Tennis Masters

Mikaël Laurent and Emy Martins successfully defended their singles titles at the seventh edition of the French Deaf Tennis Masters, held from October 16 to 18 at the Comité de l’Essonne in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, according to official tournament reports.

The three-day national competition gathered 22 players, comprising nine women and 13 men, representing various French regions for both individual and doubles events. Open to French national team players as well as unranked (NC) and fourth-series licence holders, the tournament is designed for competitors with a hearing loss of 55 decibels or greater in their better ear, measured across the 500, 1,000, and 2,000 Hz frequencies under French Tennis Federation (FFT) guidelines.

Emy Martins Claims Women’s Crown and Doubles Victory

In the women’s main singles draw, covering classifications 4/6 to 15/1, Emy Martins of Île-de-France captured the title by defeating Marine Beney of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The victory marks another successful campaign for Martins following her previous title win in 2024. Martins further extended her success on the courts by partnering with Manon Doyen of Grand Est to secure the women’s doubles title against the pair of Marine Beney and Jessica Gagnant.

Additional singles and doubles brackets across lower classifications recognized players from multiple regional committees. In the 15/3 to 30/2 women’s division, Emmanuelle Pasquier of Hauts-de-France claimed the title by defeating Ileana Durand of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Durand bounced back to take the junior mixed singles title over Souheil Hamdi of Île-de-France.
