Samurai Japan Secures Comprehensive New Balance Outfitting Deal

New Balance and NPB Enterprises have signed a diamond partnership agreement making the athletic brand the official supplier for Japan’s national baseball team, Samurai Japan, across all age categories from top tier to under-12 levels. Bushido and Wabi-Sabi Inspire Traditional Aesthetic Choices

The home game uniform features a newly developed pinstripe pattern inspired by the concept of Bushido, the moral code and philosophy honoring discipline and dignity in Japanese tradition. The design centers traditional Japanese victory blue (kachiiro) interwoven with suou-iro (deep reddish-brown) stripes to symbolize a unified pathway forward.

The visitor uniform shifts to a slate gray (nezumiiro) aesthetic inspired by traditional concepts of wabi-sabi and refined taste, reflecting a composed, understated presence for teams competing abroad.

New Balance has also introduced a stylized “SJ” monogram cap designed for both athletic performance and everyday casual wear. The two-letter monogram builds on the baseball tradition of cap-based branding while establishing a fresh visual identity intended to connect fans more closely with the national program.

New Balance Japan President Shinichi Kubota stated that the partnership represents a major milestone for the brand’s baseball division, building on existing athlete partnerships such as those with Shohei Ohtani to foster grassroots engagement and expand the sport’s reach across Japan.
