Macau to Host 2026 China Tennis Tour Finals with Expanded Knockout Format

The China Tennis Tour professional finals will return to Macau for the sixth year, running from November 30 to December 6 at the Macau Tennis Academy, organizers announced at a press conference at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort. New-sports.cn reported that the annual year-end tournament, combined with the National Tennis Individual Championships, will feature a revised format and an expanded singles draw.

Established in 2020, the national tour held its season opener in May in Changzhou before moving through Qingdao, Beijing, Foshan, Jinan, Datong, Chengdu, Shanghai, and Karamay. SJM Resorts has served as the title sponsor and co-organizer since the tour brought its year-end finals to Macau in 2021. Macau sports officials stated that hosting the event for six straight years demonstrates the city’s operational experience in staging large-scale sports events while advancing the Greater Bay Area as a platform for regional sports and cultural integration.

Expanded Elimination Draw and Star-Studded Lineup

The tournament features four categories: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and women’s doubles. Breaking from previous years that used a group stage followed by a knockout round, the 2026 event shifts to a straight knockout format. This change doubles the singles fields, expanding both the men’s and women’s draws to 32 top-ranked players each.

The entry list includes Wimbledon women’s doubles champion Guo Hanyu and Chinese veteran Sun Fajing, both returning to Macau. Organizers are pairing the competitive matches with community and campus outreach programs designed to boost local tennis participation.

Community Outreach and Youth Development Programs

Alongside the professional tournament, the Macau Tennis Academy will host the finals of the National Family Tennis Invitational Tournament. Twelve cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, and Huzhou, held preliminary rounds starting in September to send their champion families to the Macau showcase.

The “Dialogue with Outstanding Athletes” forum returns with Guo Hanyu and wheelchair tennis player Zhu Zhenjin—who secured three women’s doubles titles across the four Grand Slams in 2026—sharing their experiences with local youth. Additionally, the “Zheng Jie Cup” Youth Tennis Elite Training Camp will take place in Macau for the second year. Led by former professional players Zheng Jie and Zhang Yu, a national coaching staff will provide professional training sessions for elite youth players from across the country alongside top local prospects.

Economic and Tourism Integration Goals

Representatives from the Sports Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government noted that past tournaments drew strong support from residents, tourists, and media organizations. Officials highlighted that continuing to host the event supports tennis development, advances sports-tourism integration, and injects momentum into Macau’s economic diversification.

The tournament is organized by the Tennis Sports Management Center of the General State Administration of Sport, the Sports Youth Program Center of China Media Group, the Chinese Tennis Association, and the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government. The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR provided support. SJM Resorts serves as the title sponsor and co-organizer, while Beijing Zhongwang Tennis Sports Co., Ltd. and the Macau Tennis Association act as co-organizers. Beijing Zhongwang Tour Sports Management Co., Ltd. and International Media Port (Shanghai) Culture Development Co., Ltd. manage operations.
