Vietnamese schools across Lang Son province have upgraded athletic infrastructure, modernized sports grounds, and introduced extracurricular martial arts programs, reshaping physical education from the schoolyard to the competitive arena.
The institutional shift follows a broader provincial push to equip playgrounds, training fields, and multipurpose halls with nets, mats, balls, and specialized gear. These facility upgrades support traditional and modern disciplines alike, ranging from soccer, volleyball, badminton, and track and field to Vovinam, tug-of-war, sepak takraw, and pole-pushing.
Provincial Infrastructure Upgrades and Traditional Sports Integration
Alongside these offerings, every institution from primary schools up to vocational centers features dedicated outdoor sports fields.
School athletic clubs play a central role in maintaining this momentum. Department records show that 100% of high schools currently operate an active sports club with diverse programming, giving students structured avenues to cultivate their athletic talents outside standard classroom hours.
The Ethnic Boarding School Vovinam Success Story
At the Provincial Ethnic Boarding School, martial arts training serves as a cornerstone for student development. Because of the unique circumstances of boarding school life, administrators organize physical training sessions outside regular hours to build physical fitness, foster team spirit, enhance discipline, and boost self-awareness.
This targeted approach yielded concrete competitive results when the school’s Vovinam squad secured eight gold medals and four bronze medals at the 2026 Lang Son Provincial Sports Games.
Trang Dinh High School Track and Field Dominance
Individual student athletes are also translating school-level guidance into podium finishes. Trang Dinh High School collected 22 medals in track and field events during the 2026 High School Sports Games.
Khieu An Nguyen, a 12th-grade student in class 12A3 at Trang Dinh, captured a gold medal in the relay and a silver medal in the 400-meter dash. “During my school time, my teachers guided me and created opportunities to participate in sports training and develop my skills,” Nguyen said. “Regular training helps me improve my physical condition and gain more confidence during competitions.”
Lang Son High School Competition Expands in November
The Lang Son provincial high school sports competition ran from July 21 to 24, 2026, drawing more than 350 students across 39 communes, wards, and schools.
Provincial organizers have scheduled the next phase of the 2026 tournament for November, featuring badminton and tafeltennis matches.
