Four teams from the Volgograd Region are set to compete in the Russian Minifootball Championship finals in Sirius, where the tournament runs from November 2 to November 8. The Russian Football Union organizes the event, bringing together regional qualifiers from across the country for the national stage.
Volgograd Squads Secure Places in National Finals
The regional contingent features two men’s teams—Kikvidze and Krasny Oktyabr—along with two women’s squads, Aksinya and Zenit. These clubs advanced through local qualification paths to represent the Volgograd Region at the federal tournament in the federal territory of Sirius.
Men and Women Compete in Separate Brackets
The competition splits into distinct men’s and women’s brackets across the week. The men’s 8×8 tournament runs from November 2 to November 7, utilizing the pitches at the Territoriya Sporta sports complex. This division includes 112 teams representing 80 Russian regions. Meanwhile, the women’s 7×7 competition takes place from November 6 to November 8, featuring 24 teams from 18 regions. Across both tournaments, more than three thousand players will participate on-site.
Scale of Regional Qualifications
The path to Sirius involved extensive preliminary rounds. Regional 8×8 qualifying tournaments took place across 85 regions this year, drawing over a thousand teams and upwards of 23,000 total participants. According to the Russian Football Union, the minifootball championship stands as the organization’s largest adult-level competition and ranks as the most massive national championship across all team sports in the country. The tournament marks its fifth year, with organizers noting steady annual growth in the scale of regional qualifiers and the overall standard of competing clubs.
