Junior Firpo is fully available for Real Betis matches

Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo has recovered from the left adductor muscle injury that sidelined him during his international duty with the Dominican Republic, according to medical reports following his return to club facilities.

Training Ground Return Following Three-Week Absence

The defender spent roughly three weeks undergoing individualized rehabilitation with club physiotherapists and working with the ball on the grass. Junior has gradually rejoined group training sessions alongside his Real Betis teammates, leaving the club’s medical room occupied only by Cucho Hernández, aside from standard recovery protocols for players carrying heavy match loads.

Squad Availability For Upcoming Domestic and European Fixtures

Junior is now fully available for manager Manuel Pellegrini to select in upcoming official matchday squads. Real Betis faces an upcoming schedule featuring Saturday’s fixture against Málaga for the 11th round of La Liga, followed by a Wednesday UEFA Champions League league-phase trip to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund. The Dominican Republic international was previously omitted from the Copa del Rey squad for the match against Navalcarnero, which was ultimately postponed following a fatal railway accident in the province of Toledo.

Limited Early-Season Minutes and Defensive Competition

To date, Junior has featured in just three official fixtures out of 13 played by the verdiblanco first team this season. He started and played 60 minutes in a 1-0 away victory against Valencia at Mestalla, played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 La Liga win over Getafe at La Cartuja, and started Betis’s first Champions League match in 21 years against Lille, logging 81 minutes in a 3-2 away win.

Fran GarcĂa has established himself as the team’s primary left-back since the preseason, though ValentĂn GĂłmez filled the position when GarcĂa rested against Celta Vigo. Junior’s return provides Pellegrini with a natural specialist for the left side of defense without requiring tactical positional shifts.

Real Betis resumes competition on Saturday against Málaga before traveling to face Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.
