The María Trinidad Sánchez Badminton Academy launched its youth training program in Nagua, welcoming children aged five to ten under the direction of club president Jorge Luis Peralta Peña.
Nagua Opens Doors for Young Racket Sport Athletes
Children in the coastal municipality of Nagua now have a dedicated space to learn badminton following the official opening of the María Trinidad Sánchez Badminton Academy. The newly established sports institution aims to introduce boys and girls to the sport at an early stage, running specialized training sessions tailored for participants aged five through ten.
Club president Jorge Luis Peralta Peña presided over the opening ceremony, outlining the organization’s core philosophy of blending athletic instruction with personal development. Training sessions on the court will be directed by technical staff member Arisley Fría del Orbe, who oversees day-to-day drills and skill development for the young athletes.
Family Involvement Shapes the Training Model
Academy leadership emphasized that parental support forms the backbone of the project. Peralta Peña noted during the launch event that active involvement from parents and guardians is essential to keep children engaged and to reinforce habits built during training.
Coaches and administrators have structured the program to go beyond physical conditioning. Alongside agility, coordination, and racket technique, the curriculum encourages discipline, adherence to rules, and teamwork among participants.
Provincial Development Goals Guide the Academy
Organizers designed the academy to build a pipeline of competitive talent from the ground up. By identifying children with strong athletic aptitude early on, the technical staff hopes to prepare local youth for regional and national competitions representing the María Trinidad Sánchez province.
