Jay-Z will perform personally during the Super Bowl halftime show in February 2027. The National Football League did not have to look far for its next headliner because the rapper and entrepreneur, who has served as a consultant for the professional American football league through his Roc Nation company since 2019, announced that he will take the stage himself for the Super Bowl LXI halftime performance.
Roger Goodell Requests Jay-Z Perform Live
“When we reached the agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I put forward only one request: that Jay-Z take the stage in person one day, at the moment he deemed most appropriate,” NFL Roger Goodell stated in the announcement. In his role as a live music entertainment strategist and social justice consultant for the league, Jay-Z has effectively handpicked the artists alternating on the halftime stage in recent seasons.
The announcement leaves the door open for additional performers, noting that the declaration neither confirms nor excludes the presence of other artists alongside the headliner.
Bad Bunny Precedent and Valentine’s Day Timing
Last February, Bad Bunny anchored the halftime show, delivering a compressed 13-minute lesson in American history and music honoring the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. Now, attention turns to Inglewood, California, where Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium. The calendar places the championship game directly on Valentine’s Day.
That scheduling quirk has fueled speculation about whether Jay-Z’s wife, Beyoncé, might join him on stage. According to CNN, an appearance by Beyoncé cannot be ruled out. The couple, married since 2008 and parents of three children, share an extensive touring history. They co-headlined the “On the Run Tour” in 2014 and the “On the Run Tour II” in 2018, and both have served as special guests at each other’s solo concerts.

Beyoncé’s Previous Super Bowl History
Beyoncé is no stranger to the Super Bowl halftime stage. She headlined the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, a performance that featured a reunion of her former group, Destiny’s Child. In 2016, she returned as a guest performer alongside Bruno Mars during Coldplay’s headlining set at Super Bowl 50.
While family involvement remains unconfirmed, it is not yet known whether the performance will incorporate family members. The league and Roc Nation have yet to release further details regarding the production blueprint for the February 2027 showcase.
