The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday Night Football, improving their record to 3-4 while handing their division rivals a fifth defeat that dropped Philadelphia to 2-5, SPORT1 reported. Led by running back Javonte Williams and quarterback Dak Prescott, the Cowboys bounced back from two straight losses by dominating the line of scrimmage on the road.
Javonte Williams Breaks Through on the Ground
Javonte Williams delivered the most productive rushing performance of his career, carrying the ball 25 times for 155 yards and one touchdown. The output marked a personal best for the running back and made him the first Cowboys player to eclipse 150 rushing yards in a single contest since Ezekiel Elliott accomplished the feat in 2018. As a unit, Dallas accumulated 204 yards on 38 rushing plays, overwhelming an Eagles defense that failed to record a single tackle for loss.
Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb Deliver Through the Air
While the ground game set the tone under the direction of Brian Schottenheimer, Dak Prescott efficiently distributed the football through the air. Prescott completed 15 of 27 pass attempts for 212 yards and three touchdowns. In a back-and-forth contest featuring six lead changes, CeeDee Lamb provided the crucial score in the third quarter with a 16-yard touchdown catch that put Dallas ahead 26-21. Prescott followed by converting a two-point conversion to extend the advantage to 28-21. Lamb finished the evening with five receptions for 74 yards and two touchdowns, while George Pickens added four catches for 57 yards and a score.
Philadelphia Struggles With Roster Depletion
The Eagles played without quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, leaving Tanner McKee to direct the offense. McKee completed 23 of 35 passes for 211 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, which was hauled in by DeMarvion Overshown. Rookie receiver Makai Lemon provided a bright spot with seven catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. Philadelphia’s backfield depth also took heavy hits during the game; running back Saquon Barkley exited due to back issues in his return from a two-game absence caused by a thigh injury, and Dameon Pierce departed in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury.
