The Japan Basketball Association will host a free youth sports outreach event at Aeon Mall Shin-Rifu on November 29, 2026, offering basketball and cheerleading sessions for preschoolers alongside family shooting challenges.
Event Schedule and Venue Details at Aeon Mall Shin-Rifu
The program runs from 10:00 to 17:20 local time at the Live Square on the first floor of the South Building at Aeon Mall Shin-Rifu, located at 3-1-1 Shinnakamichi, Rifu, Miyagi Prefecture. Participation across all scheduled programs is free of charge.
Mamiya Yuka and Akatsuki Venus Lead Youth Workshops
Former Japan women’s national team player Mamiya Yuka will coach the beginner basketball sessions, while Akatsuki Venus, the official cheerleaders for the Japan national basketball team, will lead the cheer and exercise workshops. The morning features the My First Basketball Challenge for four- and five-year-olds, running from 10:15 to 11:15 after a 10:00 registration window. A second basketball session follows in the afternoon from 13:55 to 14:55. Children aged four to six can join the Kids Cheer and Exercise classes at either 11:30 or 15:10. Both disciplines limit capacity to roughly 25 participants per session under a pre-registration format.
Families Compete in Shooting Challenge for Basketball Prizes
Families with children through junior high school age can enter the Family Shooting Challenge without advance registration during two midday and late-afternoon time slots running from 12:40 to 13:40 and 16:20 to 17:20. Participants in these open shooting sessions have a chance to win Akatsuki Japan urethane size-4 basketballs through a prize drawing. Organizers note that registration for the shooting event may close early if crowd volume exceeds capacity. Pre-registration for the structured basketball and cheer classes opens on November 9, 2026, at 13:00 through the TeamJBA portal, which requires a free account. Each child participant requires one accompanying adult, and attendees must wear athletic shoes without indoor-shoe restrictions.
