Nobile Secures Master 35 Dominance Across Three Disciplines

The host player swept the Master 35 competitions by claiming victory in men’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles. In the men’s doubles final, Nobile partnered with Unterberger to defeat the pair of Ciriani and Zhen Li. Nobile then faced Zhen Li again in the singles final, earning his second gold medal of the weekend. To complete the clean sweep, Nobile teamed up with Valentina Avvento in the mixed doubles event—reuniting the partnership previously seen at the European Championships in Cagliari—to overcome Unterberger and Paregger in the final match.

Club Success and Sibling Rivalries Highlight Master Categories

Badminton Novi members maintained a strong presence throughout the rest of the Master draws. Teodor Stan and Patrizia Leardi secured a bronze medal in the Master mixed doubles. Stan, president of the club located on via Ferrando Scrivia, later claimed gold in the Men’s Doubles 55 division alongside Pablo Cuesta. That victory came in a club derby against fellow Novi player Roberto Lucio Scarabello and his partner Bossati from Alba. In the men’s singles bracket, Stan reached the semifinals before losing 15-13 in the third set to Federico Bianchi, who used two precise smash shots to advance. In the women’s Master 35 singles, Valentina Avvento took the gold medal, while Patrizia Leardi added a bronze.

Tommaso Trezza Wins Youth Doubles Title

The tournament also showcased emerging talent in the youth divisions. Tommaso Trezza won the Under 19 doubles title alongside Gimorri of B.C. Genoa. After winning a tight first set 21-19, the pair defeated Verona’s Michelotto and Mahalekamge 15-9 in the second. Umberto Trucco and Jiale Xu claimed third place in the same event. Trezza also reached the senior singles semifinals, where he played a 47-minute match against his coach and mentor, Alessandro Stan. Stan won that encounter—his eighth head-to-head victory against Trezza—before falling in the final set (5-15) to Davide, a national team athlete representing the Sicilian club Piume d’Argento.

Additional Podiums Across Under 17 and Under 15 Events

In the Under 17 category, Hamad Nasir and partner Francesco Vignola finished as runners-up in the doubles competition after losing a three-set match to the pairing of Li and Dou. Vignola subsequently defeated his club teammate Nasir 15-13 in the singles semifinals. Meanwhile, Davide Caligiuri rounded out the medal haul for the local club by earning a bronze medal in the Under 15 singles after a closely contested match against Leo Roopack from Alba.
