Five Dutch mixed doubles pairs reached the second round of the Yonex Dutch Open 2026 on Friday at the Maaspoort in Den Bosch, according to badmintonline.nl. Alongside the doubles success, Flora Wang and Adith Karthikeyan Priya secured their places in the last sixteen of the singles draws.
Mixed Doubles Dominance in Den Bosch
The third-seeded Dutch duo of Brian Wassink and Debora Jille opened their tournament campaign with a 21-10, 21-13 victory over Switzerland’s Nils Harzenmoser and Anic Metzger. They will face Jasper Koppen and Stefanie Nijsse next, after Koppen and Nijsse received a walkover in the opening round.
Joep Strooper and Sterre Bang advanced by defeating the mixed Dutch-Belgian pairing of Gino Monopoli and Fae Boonen. They advance to play Andy Buijk and Meerte Loos in the second round. Meanwhile, the eighth-seeded home pair of Brian Wassink and partner defeated Germany’s Marzuan and Hochscheid 21-18, 21-13.
Lars Kros and Kelly van Buiten also progressed by overcoming Lithuania’s Berzanskis and Kavaliauskaite in a three-game battle. However, the first round marked the end of the tournament for the pairings of Kirsten de Wit and Timo Stoffelen, as well as Niels van Erp and Marloes Spiering.
Singles Success for Wang and Priya
In the women’s singles draw, Flora Wang advanced to the last sixteen following a 21-11, 21-12 win against Denmark’s Ann-Sofie Husher Ruus. Esmeralda van Drunen exited the competition after a 21-17, 21-10 defeat to Bulgaria’s Hristomira Popovska.

Adith Karthikeyan Priya secured his spot in the men’s singles second round by defeating Switzerland’s Nicolas Mueller 21-13, 15-21, 21-14. Noah Haase fell to Germany’s Sanjeevi Padmanabhan Vasudevan 21-17, 21-19, and Aram Mahmoud lost a tight match to Denmark’s Victor Kauffmann 24-22, 21-18.
Dutch Pairs Advance in Doubles Brackets
Two home pairs advanced in the men’s doubles bracket. Timo Stoffelen and Joep Strooper defeated Belgium’s Iljo and Yaro van Delsen 21-15, 21-17, while Lars Kros and Gijs Duijs eliminated Slovakia’s Richard Pavlik and Matus Polacek 21-8, 21-13. Four other Dutch men’s pairs—Andy Buijk and Brian Wassink, Joep and Niels van Erp, Martin Pho and Pim van Veghel, and Dennis Eversdijk and Louie Lyons—were eliminated in the opening round.
In the women’s doubles, Sterre Bang teamed up with Belgium’s Tammi van Wonthergem to defeat Fae Boonen and Lieke van Parys 21-15, 21-18. Remaining Dutch women’s pairs are scheduled to begin their tournament matches on Friday.
