Florencio Varela Prepares Over 140 Athletes and Artists for the Juegos Bonaerenses 2026

More than 140 athletes and artists from Florencio Varela are preparing to travel to Mar del Plata for the 2026 Juegos Bonaerenses, with municipal officials distributing official sports apparel to the delegation this week.

Delegation Gear Distribution at Predio Comunal La Patriada

Andrés Watson met with local athletes, artists, and delegates on Wednesday afternoon at the municipal sports complex “La Patriada,” situated at the corner of Avenida Novak and Bonn, to hand out kit items ahead of the provincial tournament.

Municipal authorities framed the athletic and cultural initiative as a cornerstone of regional public policy. Watson stated that investing in culture and sports remains a deliberate political choice shared by both municipal and provincial administrations, designed to open opportunities and build community ties.

“In Florencio Varela, we choose these areas for their capacity to open opportunities, strengthen community bonds, and develop each person’s talent,” Watson said during the gathering.

Secretariat Focus on Identity and Training Sacrifices

The secretary of Culture, Sports, and Recreation, Estefanía Nieva, emphasized the deep sense of civic identity and belonging shared by participants representing the district’s colors in the provincial showcase.

Behind the upcoming competitions lie months of rigorous preparation. “Behind the achievements, we find hours of training, sacrifice, perseverance,” Watson noted, praising the resilience of local competitors who reached the finals.

Competitor Perspectives and Event Disciplines

Local participants span a wide spectrum of age brackets and competitive disciplines, ranging from youth divisions to adult and adapted sports categories. María Inés Pino, a resident of Villa Aurora competing in the 10-kilometer run, shared her lifelong ambition: “Running was a lifestyle. I dreamed of going to the tournament and I achieved it,” adding that municipal backing proved vital.

Sharon Rojas, an adapted table tennis competitor from the Don Orione neighborhood attending the competition, highlighted the social impact of the program. “This space helped me make many friends, who turned into family,” Rojas said.
