FFR Launches Fan Initiatives for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia

To counteract a 17,000-kilometer distance and morning match times during the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, the Fédération française de rugby (FFR) has unveiled a multi-tiered engagement strategy for France’s supporters. Running from October 1 to November 13, 2027, the tournament matches will air early in France due to the time zone difference, prompting the governing body to launch a dedicated fan program, a Parisian gathering space, a supporter academy, and nationwide fan zones.

The campaign formally launches on November 13 during the fixture between France and South Africa at the Stade de France for the Championnat des nations, marking the debut of the official engagement initiative named the “Pack France Rugby.” The project aims to unite, educate, and mobilize supporters across the country despite the geographical hurdles of the Southern Hemisphere tournament.

Launching the Pack France Rugby at the Stade de France

The cornerstone of the federation’s outreach is the Pack France Rugby, which functions as an engagement movement rather than a standard loyalty rewards program. The initiative centers on an official application designed to aggregate exclusive content, supporter experiences, member benefits, and schedule updates for fans following Antoine Dupont and his national teammates.

At the heart of the digital and community rollout is the creation of an “Équipe de France des supporters,” a structured supporter network open to all fans. The tier-based organization culminates in an annual selection of 23 designated supporters. These individuals will act as standard-bearers for the fan base, gaining access to behind-the-scenes events and player interactions at Marcoussis through regular selection draws.

Building an Academy and a Parisian Gathering Space

In tandem with the national team’s headquarters, the FFR is establishing the “Académie des supporters” at Marcoussis, slated to open in early next year. The academy will identify and train future atmosphere leaders—educating participants in traditional chants, rugby culture, and matchday rituals to build a network capable of sustaining stadium energy nationwide.

For fans remaining in the capital during the tournament, the federation will establish the “Maison Bleue” in Paris as the official headquarters for French supporters throughout the 2027 World Cup. Christophe Pierrel, the director general of the FFR, emphasized the inclusive design of these physical spaces during a press briefing, noting that supporters will be given full ownership of the academy’s environment.

Broadcasting Matches Across Two Thousand Amateur Club-Houses

To address the logistical challenge of morning kickoffs in France, the federation has negotiated an agreement with television broadcaster TF1 to push live tournament coverage directly into local communities. Approximately 2,000 amateur rugby clubs across the country will receive broadcast kits enabling them to transform their club-houses into localized fan zones.

These club-houses, alongside larger official fan zones deployed in cities across France, are intended to replicate the communal atmosphere of stadium viewing. Pierrel noted in an official statement that the federation aims to ensure the national squad feels the backing of the entire country regardless of the distance.
