Eva Martínez secures first place in Arco y Salud at Valencia league opener

Club de Tir amb Arc Ontinyent opened its new competitive season at the 1st Tirada de the Liga Valenciana de Sala – VIII Trofeo Arc Calderona, held at the Polideportivo de La Pobla de Vallbona, loclar reported. The opening event, hosted by Club Arc Calderona, drew nearly 200 archers from across the Valenciana region.

Double Podium Success in Arco y Salud

The Ontinyent delegation’s strongest showing came in the Arco y Salud category. Eva Martínez Andrés secured first place with a score of 490 points, while teammate Lucía Insa Moya finished third with 369 points. Both archers compete as part of a targeted development project driven by the club.

In other divisions, Nicolás Peris finished 12th in senior male traditional archery with a score of 385 points. Peris competed in a large and highly competitive field. Competitors this season face stricter scoring tolerances following rule updates from the Real Federación Española de Tiro con Arco (RFETA). The governing body introduced smaller target faces, demanding higher precision and consistency across every end.

Inés Parra placed sixth in the barebow category. While her score fell short of her usual averages, the opening event served to re-establish her competitive rhythm ahead of upcoming league fixtures.

Weather Disruption and Season Outlook

Adverse weather on Sunday disrupted the schedule, forcing officials to cancel one of the planned shooting turns. The delay left several registered competitors unable to take to the line, including José Cebrián in recurve and José Bagán in the plus-50 compound division.

Club leadership offered a positive assessment of the opening weekend, pointing to the medals in Arco y Salud and the squad’s overall motivation. The team will return to the shooting line at the next stop on the Liga Valenciana de Sala calendar to build on training blocks and refine scores.
