Espaly Judo Club trains referees and launches jujitsu classes

Young judokas from the Espaly club traveled to Andrézieux-Bouthéon to participate in a training session focused on sports commissioner duties and refereeing, local media reported. The program is designed to help competitors understand tournament organization and ensure official events run smoothly.

Referee Training Becomes Mandatory for Belt Ranks

For members of the Espaly judo club starting from the minimes age category, completing referee and official training is now a formal requirement for belt advancement. The curriculum teaches practitioners how to manage different responsibilities around the tatami mats during interclub matches and official competitions.

Instruction continues across various department clubs following a schedule organized by instructor Dominique Castanet, meaning future sessions will take place outside the Espaly dojo.

New Jujitsu Classes Target All Ages From 12 Upward

In addition to judo updates, the club launched a jujitsu section open to participants aged 12 and older, ranging from teenagers to veterans. The recreational program introduces standing and ground combat, striking techniques, joint locks, and strangulations.

Sessions run from 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Espaly gymnasium, located at 1 rue Saint-Marcel opposite the LEP. The club offers free introductory classes for newcomers.

Espaly Club Prepares for Jujitsu Training Camp

The Espaly club will send representatives to an upcoming jujitsu training camp scheduled for November 29 at the Yssingeaux dojo. Meanwhile, regular registrations remain open throughout the year for both leisure and competitive judo programs.

Classes for children aged 5 to 8 take place on Wednesdays and Fridays. Participants aged 9 and older, as well as adults, train on the same days. Inquiries are handled via phone at 06 71 00 56 80 or through email at [email protected].
