Thirteen-year-old judoka Elena Totorizzo has earned direct qualification for the Italian Esordienti B A1 Championship in the under-52 kilogram category, following the conclusion of the Trofeo Italia national circuit.

National Circuit Finale in Cagliari Sets the Stage for Lignano Sabbiadoro

The qualification was secured at the final stage of the Trofeo Italia, held in Cagliari on October 3 and 4, wrapping up the nationwide circuit. Totorizzo’s campaign also featured a bronze-medal finish earlier in the circuit at the Trofeo Italia in Messina. With the regional and national rounds concluded, the Molfetta native now prepares for the championship tournament, scheduled for December 13 in Lignano Sabbiadoro.

Every day I try to organize myself between school, homework and workouts, Totorizzo said of her schedule. Sometimes I am tired and I have to give up something, but judo is my passion. This qualification makes me feel like the sacrifices are paying off.

Training out of the Judo Team Iacovazzi, Totorizzo works alongside a club that claimed the top club trophy at every stage of the Trofeo Italia circuit this season. The squad’s success is directed by head coach Michele Iacovazzi, who serves as a technical and educational anchor for the competitors. Coach Michele is a point of reference for me and for all of us, Totorizzo noted regarding her preparation. He follows us with attention, encourages us and helps us believe in our abilities, even in difficult moments.

Looking Ahead to the December 13 Championship Matches

With the national final approaching next month, training sessions for the Molfetta judoka are geared toward the upcoming bracket. It will be an important competition, with strong opponents, Totorizzo stated regarding her outlook for Lignano Sabbiadoro. I want to prepare well, tackle one match at a time and give my best.
