“It is a pride to receive a team that has demonstrated, with this bronze, the enormous level and the work that exists behind each training session and each competition,” said El Rosario Mayor Escolástico Gil during a municipal reception for Club Bádminton Tenzul El Rosario.
The Mayor of El Rosario formally welcomed representatives of the Club Bádminton Tenzul El Rosario women’s team after the squad secured a bronze medal at the Copa Iberdrola de Clubes Femeninos de Bádminton in September. As the sole Canary Islands representative in the national club competition, the squad carved out a distinct milestone for regional badminton.
Civic Reception Honors Canary Islands Bronze Medalists
Local leaders gathered at the municipal headquarters to honor the athletes who carried the island’s colors to the national podium. U-15 players Emma Ramos and Zoe de Olano attended the civic ceremony on behalf of the squad, joined by club president and coach Roberto Cabrera alongside El Rosario Sports Councilor Juan Jesús del Rosario.
The broader roster that traveled to claim the podium finish included Sirine Ibrahim, Carla González, Sulimar Cabrera, Victoria Castro, and Tamara Rodríguez. Their combined efforts across the tournament secured third place overall, reinforcing El Rosario’s footprint in national racquet sports.

Youth Development and Twenty Years of Club History
Mayor Gil emphasized the vital role of grassroots infrastructure during the official address, noting that such athletic achievements carry deep community value. He stressed that these victories matter profoundly because they reflect the dedication of young girls and teenagers growing up in the sport, absorbing core values such as discipline, perseverance, companionship, and hard work.
The civic recognition arrives as Club Bádminton Tenzul El Rosario approaches its twentieth anniversary in 2026. The organization has spent two decades promoting badminton and expanding athletic access for local residents across the municipality.
