David Almansa won the Moto3 Japanese Grand Prix 2026 at Twin Ring Motegi on Sunday, October 4, 2026, delivering a dominant performance from pole position while Indonesian rookie Veda Ega Pratama secured 11th place after an aggressive charge through the field. Racing under intense pressure at the 4.801-kilometer Japanese circuit, Almansa faved off late challenges to take victory, while Veda outpaced Malaysia’s Hakim Danish in a fierce battle for lower-order points.
Almansa Controls Motegi From Pole to Flag
Riding for Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP, Almansa immediately converted his pole position into the race lead when the lights went out on Sunday morning local time.
Maximo Quiles, leading the championship standings for the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team, mounted a late-race charge to finish second behind Almansa. Alvaro Carpe of Red Bull KTM Ajo completed the podium in third place. Brian Uriarte, another Red Bull KTM Ajo rookie who briefly threatened at the front during the early laps, was handed a double long lap penalty after his mechanics remained working on his machine on the grid three minutes before the start, ultimately dropping him back to a fourth-place finish.
Veda Ega Charges Past Hakim Danish in the Midfield
While the leaders battled at the front, Veda Ega Pratama staged a recovery drive from deep on the grid. Antara reported that the Honda Team Asia rider fought his way up from 17th place on the grid—following a turbulent weekend that included a highside crash in Q2 at Turn 10—to cross the finish line in 11th. CNN Indonesia reported that Veda immediately gained ground on the opening lap to sit 13th before sliding back through a congested midfield that featured rivalries with Adrian Fernandez, Valentin Perrone, and Joel Kelso.

Inside the final four laps, Veda caught and passed Malaysian competitor Hakim Danish, pulling ahead to secure 11th position while Danish settled for 12th.
