Dalang Wins Dongguan Basketball League Title Defeating Nancheng

The Dalang men’s basketball team secured its twelfth Dongguan Municipal Basketball League championship on October 7, defeating the Nancheng squad 85–73 in the third and deciding game of the finals at the tournament’s conclusion.

Three-Game Finals Battle Between Dalang and Nancheng

The best-of-three series brought together two of the region’s strongest traditional programs. Nancheng relied on rapid transitions and perimeter movement to stretch opposing defenses, while Dalang countered with physical interior defense and structured offensive execution. The opening game on October 3 saw Dalang capitalize on defensive lapses to pull away for a 102–85 victory. Facing elimination in Game 2 on October 5, Nancheng applied relentless full-court pressure and secured a narrow 95–93 win in overtime to level the series at one game apiece.

In the decisive third matchup on October 7, Dalang maintained control through the final whistle to capture an 85–73 win. The victory extends a championship lineage that began in 2007 for the Dalang franchise. Following the conclusion of the series, Dalang guard Zhou Zeyuan received the Most Valuable Player award for his performance throughout the tournament.

Municipal Tournament Expands Local Engagement and Competition

Organizers launched this year’s municipal competition on March 22, structuring the schedule around town- and street-level entries to deepen local engagement. The restructured municipal tournament incorporated teams that previously competed in provincial regional competitions, fielding more than 50 players with higher-level tournament experience. The format produced several notable comebacks, including Macong’s second-half rally against Dalang in the opening round and Nancheng’s narrow semifinal victory over Chang’an.

Away from the court, host towns integrated local cultural elements and commercial promotions into the game nights. Venues featured themed events highlighting regional products such as lychees and roast goose, alongside fan zones and ticketing promotions involving more than 500 local merchants across Dongguan’s districts.

Final Standings Across Divisions

Tournament competition concluded with official rankings established for both the men’s and women’s divisions in the top-tier A category.
