Milwaukee Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins rolled out a towering frontcourt pairing of Myles Turner and newcomer Kel’el Ware, securing a 59–39 rebounding advantage over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Evaluating the Twin Towers Rotation
With regular contributors sidelined for Oklahoma City, Milwaukee tested a jumbo lineup featuring Turner alongside Ware. Jenkins noted that deploying both players together gives the team a different presence inside the paint while offering tactical flexibility. Last season, Turner primarily shared the floor with Kyle Kuzma or Giannis Antetokounmpo, while Ware split time alongside or backing up Bam Adebayo in Miami before arriving via an offseason trade.
Rebounding Dominance and Inside Scoring
The experimental frontcourt pairing immediately controlled the glass, anchoring a 20-rebound margin against the Thunder. Ware led all players on the boards with 12 rebounds to go with 18 points, while Turner scored a team-high 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting alongside 5 rebounds. Jenkins pointed out that while Ware excelled using his instincts on the defensive glass and Turner added rim protection with multiple blocks, the team still needs to tighten its pick-and-roll containment and pick up its overall defensive activity when both big men share the court.
Perimeter Spacing and Defensive Versatility
Beyond interior defense, the Bucks utilized Turner as a floor-spacer positioned in the corners when sharing the court with Ware. Jenkins emphasized that having two frontcourt players capable of creating and shooting from the perimeter adds valuable two-way versatility. Last season, Ware shot 39.5 percent from beyond the arc, while Turner maintained a 38.3 percent conversion rate on a higher volume.
Milwaukee plans to evaluate the pairing further over the remaining three games of the preseason schedule to build a larger tactical sample size.
