Brock Purdy Admits Diaper Changes Were Harder Than NFL Playbooks

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is used to dominating opposing defenses, but navigating the daily challenges of fatherhood with his 14-month-old daughter, Millie Joleen, has proven to be a whole different kind of playbook.

Podcast Revelation From the 49ers Quarterback

Speaking recently on the 49ers’ You got Mail podcast, the 26-year-old signal-caller opened up about his life away from the gridiron alongside his wife, Jenna. While Purdy leads the NFL with 13 touchdowns against just two interceptions for the 5-0 49ers, changing diapers at home initially ranked as a tougher assignment than learning a complex offensive scheme.

“I have a while to go. Just with all the little Velcro straps and stuff, and Jenna was like, ‘Here, let me see it. Boom, boom, boom. She does it in two seconds,'” Purdy said on the podcast, describing his early struggles with diaper changes.

Growing Challenges With an Active Toddler

As Millie has grown older, the task has only evolved in difficulty for the former Iowa State standout. Keeping an active 14-month-old still long enough to complete a simple routine requires a level of patience that sometimes rivals high-stakes two-minute drills.

“As Millie’s gotten older, the hard part is she’s got to be in the mood to get her diaper changed,” Purdy explained. “And if she’s not, she’s rolling around, and I’m trying to hold her down and wipe her and all this stuff. And I’m like, ‘Jenna, how do you do this?'”

Expanding Family Dynamics in San Francisco

The off-field challenges for the Purdy household are set to multiply soon. In late July, Brock and Jenna announced via Instagram that they are expecting their second child, sharing family photos that revealed the impending addition to their family.

On the field, Purdy and the 49ers enter the next stretch of their schedule following a 32-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. With San Francisco positioned at the top of the NFC standings, the star quarterback continues to show an ability to adapt quickly to shifting circumstances—a skill he now applies daily at the changing table.
