Eleven junior tennis players have earned selection to represent Bihar at the upcoming national-level tournament in New Delhi following state-level trials held on Sunday at the Sandis Compound tennis courts in Bhagalpur.
Bhagalpur and Patna Players Join State Tennis Squad
The state-level school lawn tennis open selection trials for the 2026-27 season brought together 105 young athletes across under-14, under-17, and under-19 age groups for boys and girls.
Local organizers confirmed that five players from Bhagalpur and six players from Patna secured their spots on the state squad after performance evaluations on the court.
District Sports Officials Oversee Trials
District Sports Officer Shamim Ansari and Tennis Association representative Sanjay Kumar oversaw the opening proceedings alongside other local sports delegates. Ansari told reporters that the selection process relied on open-court trials to assess each athlete’s performance.

Coaches Anju Verma, Abhinav Kumar, Vishal Vivek Kumar, Kaustubh Ansh Kumar, and event manager Sanjay Bharti were present throughout the day.
Selected Roster for National Competition
The selected players will travel to New Delhi this coming week to compete in the national-level lawn tennis event. The roster spans multiple age divisions:
- Under-14 Girls: Amira Agarwal (Patna), Paridhi Thakur (Bhagalpur)
- Under-14 Boys: Ankur Alok (Patna), Pranjal Srivastava (Patna)
- Under-17 Girls: Bhargavi Sharma (Bhagalpur), Anushka Raina (Bhagalpur)
- Under-17 Boys: Atharv Anand (Patna), Priyansh Thakur (Bhagalpur)
- Under-19 Girls: Aditi Mishra (Patna), Tanisha Singh (Bhagalpur)
- Under-19 Boys: Abhir Ranjan (Patna), Aman Singh (Patna)
