BC Adliswil NLA and NLB Teams Claim Second Place After Strong Weekend

The BC Adliswil nationalliga badminton teams both sit in second place in their respective leagues after three matchdays, highlighted by the National League A squad’s 7–1 victory away against the newly promoted BC Courrendlin.

Adliswil NLA Bounces Back with Dominant Win in Delémont

Following a 3–5 derby defeat against the BC Zürich at the Tüfi hall on Saturday, the BC Adliswil NLA team rebounded on Sunday with a comprehensive 7–1 win over BC Courrendlin at the Raiffeisen Parc in Delémont. The venue initially surprised the visiting squad with its bowling lanes, bar, and Formula 1 simulators located just through a door from the match hall. The hosts, seeking their first points after opening losses, pushed hard early. Patrick Zbinden added another victory in the second men’s singles, following his standout performance the previous day. Marczak/Jann labored through a shaky opening set before prevailing, while Haase/Cunningham struggled to find their usual aggressive style and dropped the first set before the hosts faded and both matches went to the visitors. Schütt/Gaudin also secured their win with some nervy moments, whereas Milena Schnider and Noah Haase cruised through their singles without trouble, and Jorina Jann paired with Yanis Gaudin to claim the concluding mixed match. The sole match dropped by the BCA was the third singles, contested by doubles specialist Schütt.

Zürich Derby Tests Sihl Valley Squads

Saturday’s opening weekend action brought mixed results for the club across both divisions. The NLA team narrowly missed securing a draw against BC Zürich in front of a vocal home crowd in Adliswil, losing 3–5. Noah Haase and Ezra Cunningham dropped a tight 18–16 deciding match despite holding match points. Meanwhile, Patrick Zbinden delivered a notable upset by defeating reigning Swiss champion Nicolas A. Müller 16–14, 15–13 in the second men’s singles, with Milena Schnider in singles and Marczak/Jann in doubles also recording convincing victories that left no doubt. German international Fabian Roth made his first appearance for Adliswil following an injury layoff lasting over a year, playing against Belgian competitor Caraggi while still working back to full match fitness.

National League B Teams Secure Crucial Double Wins

The BC Adliswil NLB squad claimed two identical 5–3 victories over the weekend against the strong BC Luzern and BC Uster to solidify its second-place standing in the table, relying on strong doubles play on Saturday and strong singles play on Sunday after previously opening with a draw against Zug driven by the doubles pairs. Niklas Kramer and Felix Schütt outpaced their opponents with superior agility for a clear win, while the women’s doubles pair Biedermann/Schmid and the pairing of Italian player Massetti with Stéphane Bato secured hard-fought three-set victories, the latter highlighted by an exceptional performance and fierce nerves in a 18–16 opening set. Tobias Schläpfer and Nishka Sharma also secured wins in singles play. On Sunday against BC Uster, young player Keishin Rimmer stepped up from the NLA roster to capture a tight doubles win 21–20 in the third set with Kramer, immediately following it with a victory in his singles match.
