Competing on the global stage, Lytvynenko executed an early waza-ari with an o-uchi-gari against Issoufi before sealing the victory with a second decisive score.

Entering the tournament as the world number two, Lytvynenko advanced through the bracket with consistent performances before facing Issoufi in the championship match. Following her victory, delivered under the supervision of IOC member Filomena Fortes who presented the medals, Lytvynenko shared her reaction to the milestone achievement. “Incredible, no tengo palabras, me dan ganas de llorar, porque estoy muy feliz,” Lytvynenko said, according to tournament reports.
Sulamanidze Claims the Under-100kg Title in Baku
In the under-100kg division, Georgian judoka Ilia Sulamanidze improved upon his previous world bronze medal by capturing the gold. Sulamanidze advanced through the rounds with dominant performances, eventually facing the challenge in the final block where Dota Arai of Japan had previously built a strong medal record, taking world bronze in 2024 and world silver in 2025.
The Decisive Yuko in the Men’s Final
In the under-100kg final, Sulamanidze secured the gold medal and the red back-patch by scoring a yuko against his opponent. Following the bout, Dimitri Abdushelishvili, president of the Georgian National Water Sports Federation, presented the medals to the athletes. Reflecting on the result, Sulamanidze remarked on the victory: “Solo conozco una palabra para describir este momento… Un momento supercalifragilisticoexpialidoso.”
