The Noord-Brabantse Badminton Jeugdselectie (NBBJ), a badminton school for youth players aged 8 to 17, has been recognized by Badminton Nederland with a 2-star rating since 2019, according to NBBJ. The program, based at Sportcomplex De Braken in Boxtel, provides structured training sessions every Tuesday from 17:30 to 19:15, with 35 sessions per season excluding school holidays. Parents pay an annual fee of €375, with options for trial sessions and tournament participation.
Training Structure and Curriculum
NBBJ’s training program focuses on technical, tactical, physical, and mental development, tailored to individual skill levels. Sessions are led by head trainer Bart-Jan den Hollander and multiple licensed coaches, ensuring personalized attention. Participants train in groups of similar ability, following a seasonal plan that includes two annual evaluations with parents and players. The curriculum aligns with Badminton Nederland’s official guidelines, emphasizing performance-oriented training.
The program includes approximately five tournaments annually, with coaching support during mandatory events. Successful participants may progress to the Regional Training Centre (RTC) Eindhoven, a pathway for advanced athletes.
Central Location Improves Access for Regional Athletes
Training takes place at Sportcomplex De Braken, located at De Braken 1A, 5282 JJ Boxtel. Boxtel’s central position between ’s-Hertogenbosch, Eindhoven, and Tilburg, combined with its train station, makes the location accessible for players across North Brabant. “The location is strategically chosen to serve athletes from the entire region,” NBBJ noted.
Annual Fee and Tournament Costs Outlined
The annual parent contribution is €375, with prorated fees for those joining mid-season. Additional costs include tournament entry fees for approximately five events per year and optional NBBJ-branded attire.
Program Open to Club Members Aged 8-17
The program is open to youth players aged 8 to 17 who are members of a badminton club. While primarily targeting local athletes, players from outside North Brabant are welcome.
