Badminton Club Someren Celebrates 50th Anniversary with November Tournament and Reunion

Badmintonclub Someren marks its 50th anniversary this season with a full day of events scheduled for November 14, featuring youth games, a social tournament for seniors and alumni, and an evening reunion party in Someren, the club announced.

The anniversary program is divided into three distinct segments running from mid-afternoon through the early hours of the next morning. Organizers Bart, Conrad, Fons, Loes, and Maarit designed the schedule to bring together current members, former players, past trainers, and club officials to celebrate five decades of the local sports organization.

Youth Badminton Games at Someren

The celebration opens at 15:00 local time (14:00 UTC) with Badminton Games tailored specifically for youth players. Running until 18:00 local time (17:00 UTC), the afternoon pairs structured matches with recreational activities for participants.

Attendance for the afternoon youth session is open to current youth members alongside friends, siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and children of senior players or alumni. Participation is capped at a maximum of 50 entrants. Spectators not playing in the matches can watch from the venue tribune, which remains open throughout the afternoon. Every youth participant receives a portion of fries at the conclusion of the activities.

Anniversary Hussel Tournament for Seniors and Alumni

At 18:00 local time (17:00 UTC), the schedule transitions to the Jubileum husseltoernooi, running until 20:00 local time (19:00 UTC). The format draws inspiration from the club’s regular monthly hussel events held on the final Wednesday of each month, where players are randomly assigned to different pairings throughout the session.

The anniversary hussel is a low-threshold tournament intended for senior players, former members, past trainers, and former board and competition players. The registration limit is set at 60 participants. The grandstand will remain accessible for spectators who prefer to watch rather than compete on the court.

Badmintonclub Someren Celebrates Fifty Years of History

The evening program begins at 20:30 local time (19:30 UTC) and runs until 01:00 local time on November 15 (00:00 UTC). The gathering features music, social areas to catch up with former acquaintances, and displays detailing the fifty-year history of Badmintonclub Someren.

Organizers are asking former members, past trainers, and former board members to check personal archives or storage boxes for historical club memorabilia, old equipment, and photographs ahead of the anniversary date. Registration details for each part of the anniversary program, as well as contact options for sharing historical club materials, are available directly through the Badmintonclub Someren platform.
