The Italian instinctive archery association Asd Frecce di Romagna has announced a free public open day scheduled for Sunday, October 4, allowing participants to test traditional bows along outdoor nature trails in Forlì, according to a report by ForlìToday.
Open Day Details in Forlì
The event will run from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time (UTC+2) at the association’s new training ground located at Via Ca’ Mingozzi 7. The venue sits adjacent to the Pieve di Pieve Acquedotto, positioned near the highway exit and accessible via the roundabout connecting the Eastern Tangential road and Viale della Costituzione, with parking and entry situated next to the local parish football field. Federal instructors from the association will supervise participants to ensure safety while using traditional equipment.
Instinctive Archery Uses Traditional Bows in Woodland Settings
Unlike Olympic archery, the instinctive discipline utilizes traditional bows built without sights, stabilizers, or technological accessories. Shooters release arrows toward three-dimensional synthetic foam targets shaped like animals, which are placed at unknown distances across natural woodland settings. Members of Asd Frecce di Romagna noted that their courses offer dynamic layouts where no two shots are identical, even within the same station, challenging archers with variable terrain across hill and mountain paths in the Forlì and Cesena regions.

Asd Frecce Di Romagna Launches 12th Basic Training Course
Founded in late November 2021 in Forlì, Asd Frecce di Romagna is affiliated with Fiarc, the Italian Federation of Field Archers (Federazione italiana arcieri tiro di campagna). Over five years of operations, the group has certified more than 70 new archers through public demonstrations and structured programs. Following the October open day, the association will launch its 12th basic training course on October 23, consisting of eight lessons split between an indoor gymnasium and a woodland course at Agriturismo La Ramiera in Piavola.
